PPAPP Agency Involves MSS to Support Women and Children Empowerment Program

Jakarta Child Protection, Empowerment and Population Control (PPAPP) Agency invites Muslimah Swimming Squad (MSS) to continue to contribute, be useful and achieve in supporting the advancing society in Jakarta.

It was stated during the MSS' 5th anniversary & Charity Programme #21 held at Slipi Jaya Plaza, West Jakarta, Sunday (12/8).

Jakarta PPAPP Agency's representative, Lenny Yunengsih, who serves as Head of Population Control and Family Planning Division, stated that MSS is a strategic partner in various community empowerment programs, especially on women and children sectors

Violence Against Women and Children in Jakarta Declines

She said that the MSS role is very important in helping Jakarta Provincial Government implement programs such as empowerment and protection of women and children, as well as population control.

"Hopefully this cooperation can be continued to give impact for wider society," she said, Monday (12/9).

Lenny added that the collaboration is inline with the agency's vision in creating Jakarta that is more friendly to women and children and supporting prosperous and quality families

"It is hoped the synergy can solve various social problems effectively, especially in gaining society awareness related to women and children protection," she added.

Leny continued that SAPA Posts'role in efforts to protect women and children is important. According to her, SAPA Posts available in every sub-district are ready to provide assistance to victims of violence through hundreds of professional companions.

"Please contact SAPA Post at 0813-1761-7622 If there are cases of violence against women and children. We will provide support fully," she continued.

Meanwhile, Muslimah Swimming Squad Founder, Euis Kurniawati, said synergy between government and society is the key to overcome the major challenges faced by women and children.

"We can not rely only to government for empowering women. Society, including MSS, must also actively support women protection and empowerment programs," she said.

According to her, MSS also provides education to its members through seminars and webinars on preventing violence against women and children, as well as maintaining women's mental health as pillars of the family and nation.

MSS plays an active role in disseminating information, including the existence of SAPA Posts and hotlines for assistance for victims of violence through around 15,000 members in 68 cities/regencies in Indonesia.

"We want to make sure our members know what to do if they encounter violence, so that appropriate help can be provided," she added.

As for information, the Muslimah Swimmimng Squad (MSS) based in Surabaya, received the Ruang Komunal Indonesia (RUKI) award in the women's category. MSS members reached up to 15,000 and 300 coaches spread across 68 cities/regencies and even two cities in Malaysia.

The flagship program is free swimming training with reliable trainers, as well as creating activities based on the needs of its members, such as market day and charity.
